At the age of 6 she was able to win a surfing competition using a broken board that she found within a dumpster outside of her home. She began her surfing career at five and won the first surf contest by age six. In the age of 7, she was able to secure a sponsor. Ashley is the 2011 Pipeline Women's Pro winner in Hawaii. Ashley is ranked 59th in the Women's Qualification Series for 2014.
